Carolin Schebish is an award-winning respected interior designer. Her experience has served a wide range of residential and commercial clients over her 37 year career. Carolin is certified by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), licensed in Washington, DC and certified in Virginia and Maryland.
Carolin’s projects range from refurbishing of an existing room to designs for total renovations and new construction from the blueprint stages. Vast resources developed over the years provide her clientele the expertise to accomplish her design concepts. She credits her theatre background for her ability to visualize the finished space long before completion. Her strong sense of balance, scale, color and texture provide sophisticated and welcoming interiors.
Many of her clients are in the industry including architects, builders, contractors, furniture representatives and former designers. Clients engage Carolin’s services for multiple diverse projects including residences, second homes, and businesses.
She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and a past president of the Washington Metro Chapter. She has received the Chapter Medalist Award, the 2014 Sarah Boyer Jenkins, FASID Apex Award and has won design awards from the chapter as well. Carolin juries design competitions, has served on discussion panels at the Washington Design Center and has been interviewed on Cable TV regarding interior design. She has been published locally and nationally. She is also a member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA).
A Nebraska native, Carolin has lived in the Washington, DC area for many years. She co-founded Design Exchange in 1981. She is a graduate of the International Institute of Interior Design, Washington DC, and earlier studied at Pennsylvania State University. She enjoys theatre, art, music, dancing, and spending time with her wonderful husband and family.
